2019 hanami update. a real grand slam this year, as was last year. all the classic spots: bishamonyama, maizurukōen, and of course the highlight, the kumanojinja night time lightup. shoko + i headed over there on an overcast night toward the end of hanami season proper, maybe about 10pm, bottle of wine and maybe a couple beers in hand. posted up on the concrete stage/pavilion thing and just kinda kicked it there, talking on + on, a few other people stopping by or passing through. daring each other to walk up the steps into the woods behind us, up toward the shrine itself (too spooky!). cool early spring rain starting to fall as the night went on.
