back in… july? was it? shawn and alix came to visit. you know the ones: tall, my friends, smart, have a dog and some cats, live in a house, etc. when they got here at first, all they wanted to do was stay in the house and watch reruns of “friends” that they had brought with them on a DVD-R, but we were like, no way, come on, let’s go out! and so we did, and really at the end of that week-plus, they were basically japan champions, the both of them. we visited like, six prefectures over the course of their stay? fukuoka saga ōita nagasaki kumamoto yamaguchi not necessarily in that order. did lots, saw lots: walked through a deserted-seeming town and into a huge cave, ate green soba noodles off a roof shingle, got up super early and went downtown to see the hakata gion festival, ate at mcdonald’s, got frappuccinos at starbucks (no joke), bolted through hakata station at full speed and didn’t make our train to nagasaki, saw a couple huge buddhas… even managed to find time to play some overcooked on the switch, which, i mean, you just can’t fuck w/ that. also, while we’re on that subject, shawn got all amped up when we were walking around on one of the first days and bought mario kart for shoko and i so we could all play it together. it was super fun. it sure is nice to have your friends around, right? a freakin’ sight for sore eyes, right there.
